Field of scientific researches

One of the central problems of power system is the transmission lines, which is currently carried out by alternating current electric transmission lines. Used transmission lines have limited features and do not always meet the necessary requirements, mainly, by limited bandwidth, imperfect control, and technical specifications. One of the ways to improve transmission lines are working in the field of controlled parameters of lines, which are maintained in the Laboratory since its inception of 1972 year.
Employees of the Laboratory of controlled transmission lines in the creative collaboration and with participation of experts from other organizations have elaborate a new type of transmission line-controlled self-compensating a lot of chain high-voltage lines. They are based on the idea of ​​rapprochement phases of different circuits and control the angular shift between the applied vectors system of voltage, that allows to change the parameters of the magnetic and electric field lines, thus ensuring: increase capacity, improve the mode parameters, the ability to control power flow in power system, reduce environmental impact and improve the technical and economic indicators. The Controlled Self-compensating high Voltage Transmission Lines (CSVTL) include in its membership of the phase control (FACTs) devices and other equipment of regulation.
The members of the laboratory are made a lot of research works in various fields of energy sector associated with the production, transmission and distribution of electricity.

Composition of the laboratory

8 members were worked until 1 January 2008 in the laboratory, including one academician and doctor habilitat in technical sciences, 1 doctor in economical sciences , 1 doctor in technical sciences , 2 scientific researchers, 2 engineers and technician.

From 1.09. 2010 15 members employ in the laboratory, including 1 academic and doctor habilitat in technical sciences, 1 doctor habilitat in technical sciences., 1 doctor in technical sciences, 2 scientific researchers, 8 engineers и 2 technicians (including 8 women). The number has changed due to reorganization of the overall structure of the Institute of Power Engineering .

History of laboratory

The history of Laboratory’s researches are presented in the Laboratory’s booklet issued to 40-th anniversary of the Institute of Power Engineering in 2006.

Main scientific results

The results of the research and elaborations of the laboratory in energy sector have been applied in practice and used in a number of manufacturing enterprises, design, research and educational organizations and government agencies.
Implementation of results are made in the form of recommendations, feasibility studies, initial design works and direct participation of the members of laboratory in the creation of a number of experimental - industrial facilities and Strategies and State Programs.
Scientific and technical reports, methods, calculations, models, projects, documents, recommendations are the forms of research results for the implementation.
The main organizations which have found the practical results of scientific researches of laboratory are:
SE «Moldelectrica»; Departament of Indusries and Infrastructure Republic of Moldova ( until 2009); Institute «Energoproiect”; Institute «Gazproiect»; Cogeneration Power Stations «СЕТ-1,2»; Institute « Energosetiproiect » (Moscow) и its Departaments North-West ( Sankt - Peterburg) and Siberian (Novosibirsk); Design Institute « Ukrenergosetiproiect» ; Ministry of Economics Republic of Moldova, Institute Economics and Information, Enterprises Netwoks North and North- West.

Patents

Laboratory were received 26 patents and 21 inventor's certificates on the controlled self-compensating transmission lines, including patents in Canada, U.S.A, UK, Japan, Germany, Russia and other countries.

Approbation of the results of works

Members of Laboratory of controlled transmission lines are reported research’s results at many international conferences in different countries, including Hungary, Iran, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries.
