10th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development,

7 - 8 October 2019, Bangkok, Thailand

During the period 07 - 08 October 2019, the representative of the Institute of Energy participated in the international seminar: "10th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development", which took place in Bangkok.

The 10th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development “Translating Targets into Actions” took place at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. The Forum was organized by the five United Nations Regional Commissions and the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Governments, businesses and civil society organizations have made tremendous strides in bringing affordable and clean energy to more people in recent years, but this progress has been largely uneven and must be accelerated in order to leave no one behind. Urgent reinforced action and more investment, particularly in least developed countries is needed to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 7 on energy by 2030.

The 10th Forum in Bangkok did explore pathways to close the gap between targets and actions. Experts from the energy sector, representatives from governments, UN entities, international organizations and other stakeholders discussed major issues and actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 7 and to meet commitments to mitigate climate change.

“The Forum did host 6th session of the Group of Experts on Renewable Energy (GERE) and the 6th session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency (GEEE)

During the Forum, the discussions highlighted the progress made to date by the energy transition and the opportunities that are becoming available.  It was also investigated the weaknesses, threats and barriers to achieving the energy transition in the coming years.
