Advanced high temperature materials for core and novel energy engineering
EU-Eastern Partnership Countries Workshop “Advanced high temperature materials for core and novel energy engineering”, 25/26 November 2010, Kyiv, Ucraine.
State Committee of Science, Innovations and Informatics of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Board of Directors of the European Commission “Research” within the SICA (Specific international cooperation activities) program organized a workshop intended to prepare the contest of research projects in 2011.The workshop objective was the coordination of key topics for this contest.
Representatives of the European Commission and experts from the European Union and from CIS countries participated in the workshop.Academician Boris Grinev (Ukraine) and doctor Constantinos Charitidis (Greece) were the chairmen of the workshop.
Representatives of the European Commission: doctor Achilleas D.STALIOS, E.CAHILL, doctor M.Dzubinschi; experts from the European Union: - prof.Robert VASSEN (Germany), Dr.Jerzy PASTERNAK (Poland), prof.Arthur G.GIBSON (England), doctor Fhilippe BILLOT (France) presented their reports.Representatives of the CIS countries also presented their reports: prof.E.Gevorkyan (Armenia), prof.T.Таlако (Belorusia), Prof.G.Таvаdze (Georgia), doctor D.Gabunia (Georgia), Dr.Hab.V.Berzan (Republic of Moldova), Acad.V.Skorokhod, prof.A.Bilous, doctor M.P.Odezchuk, prof.St.Ladokhin.
As the results of the discussions areas and key directions for the research project contest 2011 are determined:
As areas are identified: Energy Conversion, Energy Transfer and Energy Storage.
Key directions:
- Metals and Alloys.
- Non metallic materials (including Ceramics, Composites and mineral based materials such as graphite and basalt).
The priority topics are determined to be the following:
- Solid state ionic conductors.
- Refractories.
- Coating and Joints.
- Thermoelectrical.
- Fuel cells.
- Fossil fueled Power Plants.
- Structural Materials for Nuclear Application.
- Properties to be addressed can include:
- Radiation Resistance (nuclear applications).
- Reliability and Durability.
- Corrosion, Erosion Resistance.
- Mechanical Properties.
