Participation in International Workshop on “Wind Power Development and Use”, India, March 2010
Sergiu Robu, responsible for International Cooperation of the Institute of Power Engineering, participated in international workshop on “Wind Power Development and Use”, 08 – 18 March 2010. The programme was held partly in Chennai and partly in Kanyakumari in south India, both cities located in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The workshop was arranged by National Institute of Technical Teacher´s Training and Research, Bhopal ( www.nitttrbpl.ac.in )in cooperation with LIFE Academy(www.life.se ), Sweden and SIDA (www.sida.se ).
The overall objective of the workshop was to contribute to capacity building and increased understanding of the importance of wind power and other renewable energy sources among strategic organisations in the participant`s home countries.
The workshop provided knowledge and introduces relevant tools and methods for designing, planning and implementing a change project in the energy sector.
The specific objectives of the program are to provide the participants with:
- An understanding of the impact of energy supply on global climate change and its importance for planning and development as well as its impact on the environment, poverty reduction and gender issues.
- Knowledge of the role of wind power in the energy supply as a whole, and its advantages and disadvantages from environmental, economic and technical perspectives.
- Knowledge and understanding of the entire process of planning, financing, installation, management, maintenance and demounting of a wind power plant.
- Exchange of knowledge and experience between the participants themselves and between the participants and Swedish actors.
