Working visit of partners from National Technical Institute of Kyiv, Ukraine to the Institute of Power Engineering of Academy of Sciences of Moldova

A delegation from national Technical Institute of Ukraine has visited the Institute of Power Engineering of Academy of Sciences of Moldova during the period of 18 – 21 September 2011.The members of delegation from Ukraine were: prof.V.M Spivak; and the Deputy Director of research Institute “Applied Electronics” A.B.Bogdan.The visitors of the Institute of Power Engineering of Academy of Sciences of Moldova are partners in the framework of the Project “Transforming solar energy to electricity using photovoltaic elements”.

Guests have presented results of scientific research oriented to increasing the efficiency of solar energy conversion to electricity based on thin-film hetero-connections.Proposed solutions to use a blocking layer and implanted crystalline silicium in the emitter layer have shown a result of increasing the efficiency of conversion elements by 9 to 14%.But, these solutions are proposed based on a photovoltaic cells technology that is simpler to realise and chipper than the multi-layer photovoltaic cells. These solutions provide a decrease in the costs of existing photovoltaic cells, known as HIT-structures.

Scientists from Moldova have informed about results of converting elements (Photovoltaic Modules and converters of electricity to light -LED).During meeting it was discussed the problem of increasing the efficiency of electricity usage that is produced by photovoltaic modules in order to identify the gaps of energy efficiency.Solutions realised and proposed by the Institute of Power Engineering of Academy of Sciences of Moldova about controlled lighting system were marked as a successful solution and economically competitive.

It was decided, to continue common working on publishing the result of research, and to prepare the concept of a new research project in the field of solar energy use.

Meantime, it was discussed and approved the Draft of the Book “Nanoelectronics” to be published in the Republic of Moldova. In the book the result obtained by research teams from Moldova and Ukraine will be presented, as well as those referring to solar energy use.
